The calendar, oh the calendar! We are already in the middle of October (even though the thermostat hit 88°last week), All Hallows’ Eve/Halloween is in two short weeks, liturgical churches are in the middle of preparing for upcoming November feast days and all of us are pre- paring for Advent and Christmas. I’m not sure where the time has flown!

Your SPAGO board has been working on a new endeavor. I am pleased to announce that Southern Plains Chapter is, under the leadership of Cristiano Rizzotto, mentoring Brazil to be- come a member chapter of the AGO. Yes—Brazil! SPAGO will be helping them through the process of starting a chapter, giving them leadership support the first couple of years and will act as their sister chapter. Cristiano has outlined some wonderful ideas to get them started as well as some possible joint endeavors in the next couple of years. Stay tuned!

Another new venture starting up is one sponsored by National AGO. They have started a virtual program of chapters, one per region, for those AGO members who are younger than 30. The new dean of our Southwest Region is Alvez Barkoskie, IV, our own sub-dean. Congratula- tions Alvez! See his article for more regarding AGO’s newest program. Please check out our calendar of programs listed elsewhere in the newsletter and put the dates on your personal calendar! We have two hymn festivals planned, one in Norman during November and one in February, hopefully Altus. Even if you do not play one of the hymns on these programs, please plan to attend and lend your voice to the singing. The hymn festivals are a great way to promote both the pipe organ and the singing of hymns. Remember, our programs are for you, our members so come out and enjoy the music, fun, and fellowship.

Musically yours,

Dean, Southern Plains AGO
